The goal of the PIRE-ECCI is to contribute to the training of a new generation of Ph.D.s in the area of electron chemistry and catalysis at interfaces. This training program is carried out in such a way that students emerge not only with extraordinary technical abilities but also with a global experience of multidisciplinary research. Extended research visits to China (XRV's), Chinese language and cultural sensitivity training, scientific workshops and summer schools, as well as specially designed international technology transfer educational experiences all augment the technical training imparted by state-of-the-art laboratory research. The PIRE-ECCI program provides graduate students in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials and Physics with the opportunity to experience China first-hand while participating in forefront research and creating personal networks of friends and associates, which will allow them to grow into academic and industrial leaders on the scientific and technical global landscape.
