PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

The partnership is directed by Prof. A.M. Wodtke, who is supported by a local Steering Committee and an International Advisory Board. Prof. Xueming Yang (Associate Director for Basic Research at DICP) is the Foreign Program Coordinator, in charge of day-to-day operations in Dalian. The Foreign Program Coordinator's chief duties will be to: (i) facilitate all aspects of the Graduate Student XRVs during their time at DICP including coordination of housing, language training and, any other matters leading to a supportive environment for our students; (ii) provide local coordination of the Dalian Workshops on Electron Chemistry and Catalysis at Interfaces in June 2007 and 2009, (iii) Work with UCSB's TMP program to coordinate the technology-transfer study tour in 2009, (iv) work with other faculty at DICP to identify qualified Chinese students to participate in XRVs at UCSB.

In addition, two "theme-leaders" coordinate the scientific efforts and stimulate interactions. Susannah Scott will be the theme leader for catalysis and Xueming Yang will be the theme leader for surface dynamics. These theme leaders will assist the Director in writing annual reports, selecting speakers, etc..

The local Program Coordinator for the PIRE-ECCI here at UCSB is Carrie Kuffel, who handles the logistical coordination of travel, seminars, group meetings, and day to day PIRE-ECCI events on campus and abroad.
