The 2014 Summer School for the PIRE-ECCI program will be held in Shanghai, China, June 23-27, at Fudan University. The summer school is being co-sponsored by Fudan University, SINANO, and the International Center for Materials Research.

The summer school will be held June 23-27, 2014 in Shanghai, China, on the Fudan University campus.

Travel & Lodging


Travel by Air

The airport code for Shanghai Pudong International Airport is PVG.


Lodging

PIRE-ECCI guests will lodge at a hotel in Shanghai convenient to the venue location. Invited guests will have a room reserved under their name at the hotel, for the nights requested (please email to Carrie Kuffel) , depending on your arrival/departure dates. Any nights spent in Shanghai outside of those supported by the conference (June 22-28, 2014) must be the responsibility of the traveler. Students will share a room, speakers and invited personnel will have their own.

Application for Summer School Travel Support

Students, post-docs, and assistant/early career professors are encouraged to attend the summer school. We have a limited amount of funds to support your travel to China. To apply, please download the application form, fill out entirely, and email to the program coordinator, Carrie Kuffel, along with your CV and a letter of recommendation from your current advisor (if applicable).

Application restrictions: in order to be qualified for travel assistance, you will need to be in good academic standing, and be enrolled as a full-time student (graduate) in a related field. Postdocs and assistant professors in a related field are also welcome to apply. Researchers from developing countries are especially welcome to apply.

Save the application in pdf format (your last name in the file name is helpful) and include your CV and advisor letter of support. Email to the program coordinator, Carrie Kuffel.


Travel Reimbursements


Travelers Supported By the PIRE-ECCI

Travelers supported by the PIRE-ECCI will be reimbursed for their round-trip, economy class airfare to Shanghai. Please submit all original receipts for travel costs (airfare, taxi, travel visa, etc.) to the Program Coordinator, Carrie Kuffel. If your airafare is on an e-ticket, the receipt must show the itinerary and method of payment. Please book your flights early to obtain the best rates. Flights from the US should be under $2000.00 USD; flights from EU under $1500 USD, flights from Asia under $500 USD. All travelers will be asked to complete a travel reimbursement worksheet (domestic or foreign), signed, and with an address to send the check to, along with all applicable receipts.

Foreign Travelers

Travelers coming to Shanghai from outside of the US must submit copies of their passport photo page and travel visa for reimbursement.
